Judith Doble & Tumble Black Magic – Large G1 Final winners

Tumble’s Black Magic (Indie) was first discovered by my trainer’s wife Yvonne who said its about time you had a second dog and e-mailed me a picture of her from the Dog Rescue Page and said that she thought that she was my type of dog and I must admit I liked her picture and her description and e-mailed the rescue centre for further information and was home checked by two lovely ladies Olga and Pauline the following day. Haray and I went down to the Rescue Centre which is Lizzy’s Barn Sanctuary in Llanelli, Wales to meet Indie with my other dog Raja with whom she got along very well with and still adores. It was love at first sight how could we resist that pretty face. Indie is a flat coated retriever x collie bitch (we think) and I rescued her when she was 7 months old she is scared of men especially if they wear hats and can be very wary of people until she builds up her trust with them, Indie has “issues”, but she is such a loving dog at home and shows so much affection and hopefully will learn to trust dogs and people again.
Indie was born to do agility and used to watch my other dog jump and weave in the garden and was just itching to have a go. I belong to Caerphilly & District Dog Agility Club and Indie started her puppy training when she was 11 months old. I also have a trainer who is also a friend called Gerry who started me off in agility with Raja my first dog and he has helped me so much with Indie’s training he’s been a godsend as there have been times when the going has been tough. Also, Barrie James who won the grade3-5 Rescue league this year with his dog Diva (Ouja Fink) has been excellent and I have had a few training sessions with him and I always come away with new ideas one example was Indie’s weaves she is so much quicker now after Barrie advised me to get her to lower her head by use of a toy. As soon as Indie started her lessons you could tell she loved agility, she is very vocal (I wish she had an on/off button on times) she tries tells me what to do rather than the other way around she is a bright dog and picks up things very quickly some good and some bad.
Indie commenced her agility career in a UKA nursery class which I found excellent for young dogs starting out and she had a clear round. Her first KC show was when she was18months old and it was on the 7th July 2007 at Tuffley where she came 3rd in grade 1 jumping.
Her next show was Blackdown where she had 2nd in grade 1 jumping. Indie won out of grade 1at her third show which was at Brecon where she won combined 1-2 agility and came 4th in combined grade 1-2 jumping. A week later Indie won combined 1-2 agility at Pembroke show and came 7th in combined 1-3 helter skelter. On the Bank Holiday weekend, Indie competed at Dordale and came 3rd in combined 1-4 agility and 3rd in the Agility Club Starters Challenge and qualified for the 2008 final in Newbury in July, and she also won the grade 1 jumping.
I entered Indie in some UKA shows at the end of August and September and to date she has 2 first places in beginners agility, a first place in beginner snooker, 2nd place in beginners jumping and steeplechase. Indie won into Novice in her 2nd show and currently has two 3rd places in novice agility. My last outdoor show of the year was in Honiton Devon in September where she done me proud again and won grade1agility it was the last show where she could compete at grade 1 and she went out with a blast. What more could I have asked for in 3 months of competing she has done me proud much more than I could have ever dreamed of and long may it continue. Indie was 2 years old on 1st January 2008.
My friends have always been so supportive and believed in us both as a partnership and I would like to thank them all so much for their support. I would also like to thank Haray my Husband and Parents for all their help and my other dog Raja who has taught me so much. Also to my Club Caerphilly and to my trainer Gerry who have been excellent. I stay in touch with the people that re-homed Indie & keep them up-to-date with her achievements and they have come to see her compete.
Indie’s other interests are long walks down the Sand Dunes chasing squirrels and rabbits with Raja and her other dog friends, swimming and most definitely anything to do with food. Indie has a few tricks up her paws that she has learnt and one comes in very handy which is shutting the door, I tell her to shut the door and she goes and closes it for me, also she waves to people and looks so cute.
I am so pleased that I rescued a dog and gave it a 2nd chance at life and Indie has shown her pleasure to me so many times not only with all her achievements in agility but with her happy expression on her face and her constant wagging of her tail. Thanks Indie........... Judith Doble
