My life 31/2 years on.....

Hurrikane Inca

Let me introduce myself to those who may not know me, my name is now Inca, I am a Belgian Shepherd dog (Groenendael) that’s the black one. I was rescued at just over five months of age from Woodgreen animal shelter through Jane & John Curzon to a person called Lisa Jordan. I was a tiny scared little pup who barked at lots of things other dogs, people and cars.

My life changed in May 2004, a lad calling me Toby took me out of my Kennel to a paddock where I met Lisa and other dogs this was the last time I was called Toby.

I went to live with Lisa and her other dogs, after only two weeks we went camping at a huge dog show where I see dogs going in tunnels, over jumps, weaving in and out poles, running over planks I was so excited I forgot to bark at the other dogs and people.

The following six months I learnt competitive obedience, Lisa was brave enough to enter us in a show and I won the class out of 50 dogs. (Sadly I sing too much in the higher classes and get marked). When I turned a year I was introduced to agility classes, I was scared of the see-saw but enjoyed tunnels and weaves. We entered my first show I was a little steady I got a clear round. As time went on I found a new gear, all my see-saw fears had gone. The new grades came in January 2007 I started in G4, I have had a really successful year.

My highlights: winning into G5, winning the ABC DARL Rescue league and 5th in combined grades 3-5 qualifying for the final in 2008, 2nd in G4 Agility Club league, currently 1st WBSDS agility league.

Taking part Crufts and Discover Dogs in the rescue agility and the 30 weave challenge it was great fun I completed all the weaves. I went with Lisa’s other doggie friends on the Discover dogs stand, lots of people recognised me and wanted to offer me a home, Lisa had to tell them that I was no longer needing a new home. I am so good at meeting people I am a registered PAT dog.

I have my Silver good citizen; I also have enough points for bronze, nearly silver agility warrant. I have been videoed by the BBC they said how wonderful I am, I was showing them some of my tricks I have learnt, they said maybe it would be shown on next years Crufts preview.

I went to Your Horse Live and have seen myself on Sky TV, I looked really good all in black, all of the lights on my shinny coat.

I share my new life with four other Belgians and a GSD, I have great fun chasing them around the woods making loads of noise.

My hobbies are of course doing agility, then sticking to the left leg in all directions whilst singing a few notes, I am trained at flyball but do not compete.

My addictions are well you guessed it agility, then shredding rope balls and leads on a weekly basis, I love my food if given the chance I would help my friends finish their dinner, IMO they are far to slow at eating.

I am off now for a power nap, look forward to seeing all in 2008 if you ask nicely I will personally autograph this page for you, just bring some sticky mud for me to dip my paw in.

My thanks to Jane & John, Woodgreen and BSD rescue for letting me be a part of Lisa’s family, to Lin Bergan and all at Sunniday agility club, Lisa for typing this as my paws are too big for the keyboard and for giving me a wonderful new life.

Happy jumping in 2008.
