Sally Rhoda & Shadow - Pocket Rocket Poacher

Shadow is a black Beddlington/Whippet [Lurcher], and is about 5yrs 10mths old. He was found wandering in South Gloucestershire along with other members of his litter.

We think that they were abandoned because they could not be used for rabbiting due to restrictions in Foot and Mouth year 2001.

First he was re-homed with an elderly couple, who kept him for two weeks.... At least they had the sense to hand him back. I was asked to foster him at about 18 weeks, and of course I had to keep him. I found that he didn’t like men and was really frightened of old ladies with grey hair so much so that he actually howled at them. It is so nice to see, that now he will go up to people he knows.

He is a real character and of course, like all Lurchers he is a thief. How many dinners have I lost? Some of them just cooked and really hot!

Shadow is a joy to run in agility, but this wasn’t always so, when we first started competing if he made a mistake he just left the ring and couldn’t come back. Then I found that he was hooked on a ball, so if we got a clear round, or even part of one, it was off for a game of ball and he became totally hooked after that.

Above all he is just good fun!
